Detectors Preamplifiers

Laser Monitoring Systems manfacture a range of high gain, low noise preamplifiers with a choice of amplifier characteristics matched to individual detectors. These preamplifiers are available to suit bandwidths from DC to 2oo MHz. The amplifier range offers DC or AC coupling, with variable detector biasing available in certain cases to increase the detector bandwidth.

All of the PV detectors in the Laser Monitoring Systems range normally operate with DC coupled current amplifier to optimise the detectivity of the detector.

How to select an amplifier
MPA-1 type amplifiers are general-purpose wide band a.c.-coupled amplifiers.

MPA-2 amplifiers can be used for detectors operating in the photovoltaic mode (zero bias).

Generally, use the

:
MPA-2B for low impedance detectors (voltage noise limited) and


MPA-2J for high impedance detectors (current noise limited).

Amplifiers, which have been optimised for specific detectors, are available for lead salts (MPA-6) and CMT (high speed MPA-8 or high gain MPA-3).
